Business Partners of the Year: Warren County
2010—Dr. Will Austin, President of Warrren County Community College
Dr. Will Austin, the president of Warren County Community College, has worked to create a partnership between the college and Warren County Vocational Technical School. His vision for county residents is to provide a pathway to higher education and career enhancement. He has aligned high school career programs with degrees at WCCC, making it possible for students to earn college credits while still in high school, providing them with the ease of transition and cost savings so desperately needed in this economy. Plans are to offer a degree program in automotive technology, with programs in hospitality/culinary arts, law and public safety and health sciences soon to follow.
2009—Hackesttstown Regional Medical Center
Hackettstown Regional Medical Center has been providing clinical exposure for junior and senior health science students at Warren County Technical School for the past two years. This involvement has given students opportunities to shadow a health care professional in a variety of departments in the medical center. In addition, they are exposed to all aspects of the medical center. Kim Forman, Administrative Director of the center has been very helpful working with the district's instructor, setting up the details to visit twice a week. The students all feel welcome by their staff and look forward to the next time they have clinic.
Medical Center staff are also an active part of the school's advisory board, and have been into the school several times to talk to the students.
2008—Deborah Gregorakis, Outlooks For Hair salon in Phillipsburg
Deborah Gregorakis of the Outlooks For Hair salon in Phillipsburg has presented demonstrations at the Warren County Technical School several times, giving cosmetology students techniques used in her salon. Ms. Gregorakis has been a big supporter of the school's cosmetology program, hiring many of students.
2007—Hawk Pointe Golf Club
Since 2006, Hawk Pointe Golf Club in Washington has been hiring Warren County Technical School students for a variety of positions including culinary, automotive and welding. Managed by KemperSports, the golf club and General Manager Mark Freemott are very supportive of Warren Tech students. The entire management team is focused on the students' success, taking great pride in having young adults excel in their positions.
2006—Thomas & Betts
Thomas & Betts has been an integral company, partnering with Warren County Technical School since 1995. Dedicated to enriching educational opportunities, this company has employed machinists and drafting students in our cooperative industrial program and promoted shadowing opportunities that help guide students with their career choices. Thomas & Betts has also been an active participant in our apprenticeship program, utilizing our school for continuing education needed for training its apprentices. In addition, during Operation Desert Storm, Thomas & Betts supplied our culinary department with boxes and all the support needed to send cookies to our troops. Thomas & Betts is an asset to our programs, and Warren County Technical School looks forward to our continuing relationship as a cooperative business partner.
