Mission and Overview
The Sussex County Technical School, a school of choice, in partnership with family, community, business, industry and institutions of higher learning, empowers secondary and adult students to become self-
directed learners and active participants in their community by providing a competitive advantage to pursue any career opportunity.
Sussex Tech weaves career preparation, integrated academic instruction, and technical instruction into the total fabric of school life. As a result, our graduates are better able to meet today's higher education standards and succeed both in a competitive workforce and in their personal and community goals. Every student selects their individual Career Pathway that becomes part of their entire curriculum in a way that is meaningful to them. Sussex Tech is committed to graduating students who possess high self-esteem with the skills and knowledge necessary for personal and professional success!
District Highlights
Sussex Tech's "Career Pathway Model" and Concurrent Enrollment Program with community colleges allow students to simultaneously earn credit toward a high school diploma and a post-secondary degree or certificate. Highlights include international recognition as the only high school to compete in and win the International Submarine Race, winning the county Math League competition, first place awards in the SKILLS USA competitions, 12 service projects, and 18 Bloustein Scholars.
Looking Ahead
We are the only technical school participating in Quality New Jersey and a research data-driven method known as the Baldrige Process. The district uses portfolio-based assessment in both career and academic areas to assess the quality and the quantity of work. We also utilize Work-Keys, academic skills established by industry that represent basic math, reading and writing skills as required in each career area that we offer.
