2009—PSEG Nuclear

Salem County Vocational Technical School has a long association with PSEG Nuclear which dates back to 1972 when the school first opened and offered evening classes to community residents. Since then, PSEG Nuclear representatives have served on the SCVTS Community Advisory Board, the Perkins Program Planning Committees, and the school district's Educational Foundation. PSEG also supports the Academy for Energy Applications at the Salem County Vocational Technical Schools and has done so since its inception in September 2007. PSEG representatives assist in developing and updating the curriculum, the donation of tools and equipment, and hosting tours and providing speakers for students.

"PSEG Nuclear has contributed greatly over the years to the success of our programs and graduates," said SCVTS district superintendent, Loren Thomas. "The company has been aggressive in employing our students and in supporting our apprenticeship programs."

2008—South Jersey Gas

South Jersey Gas Company has had a measurable impact on the Salem County Vocational Technical School district as well as the entire community. Because of their interest and concern for the future of the workforce in the energy field, the company was instrumental in helping create the district's Academy for Energy Applications. Company representatives helped formulate curriculum and build the academy program.

The Pennsville National Bank has supported the efforts of the Salem County Vocational Technical School (SCVTS) Educational Foundation for seven years by providing student scholarships and financial assistance and through enhancement of the district's educational technology initiatives. Bank president Robert Vanderslice serves as the chairperson of the SCVTS Community Advisory Board. Under his leadership, the advisory board helped to develop and revamp four academy programs, institute a school-wide reading initiative, coordinate a comprehensive survey of middle school students and parents, and develop the district's marketing and recruitment plans. Mr. Vanderslice also serves as the chair of the advisory board's Community Information and Marketing Committee.

2006—Memorial Hospital of Salem County

Memorial Hospital of Salem County is a 150-bed acute care facility owned by Community Health Systems. CHS purchased the non-profit hospital in 2002 and has continued and expanded the long partnership with the community and Salem County Vocational Technical School (SCVTS). Over the years, the hospital and staff have contributed significantly to the success of students enrolled in the Salem County Career and Technical High Schools' Allied Health Professionals and Academy of Biological and Medical Sciences programs. The hospital has provided opportunities for students to be exposed to many career options through clinical and mentoring experiences. The hospital has shared the expertise of its staff by providing representatives to serve on district CTE and academy program advisory committees and on the district community advisory board. Hospital CEO James Angle serves on the SCVTS Educational Foundation Board of Trustees and is an ardent supporter of SCVTS.
