NJCCVTS Calls Schundler Appointment "Critical and Bold Decision"
The following statement was made by Council President Michael Maddaluna regarding Governor-Elect Chris Christie's nomination of Bret Schundler to serve as Commissioner of Education
“Bret Schundler is a strong advocate for giving New Jersey parents a choice in where their children go to school. New Jersey’s county vocational-technical schools are the original public schools of choice for 30,000 secondary students who are seeking a hands-on, career-focused high school experience.
“In his new role, we are confident that Mr. Schundler will discover what educational leaders in New Jersey and throughout the nation have recognized: that career and technical education is a successful model for high school reform. We look forward to working with Mr. Schundler as we continue to build innovative programs that engage students, make coursework more relevant and boost achievement.
"Serving as the Commissioner of Education is a big job with nothing less than the future of New Jersey's schoolchildren at stake. We applaud Governor-Elect Christie for making this critical and bold decision."
