Maddaluna Assumes Presidency of NJCCVTS
Somerset County Vocational-Technical School Superintendent Elected President
Michael Maddaluna, superintendent of the Somerset County Vocational & Technical Schools, was unanimously elected president to lead NJCCVTS for a two-year term. Maddaluna assumed his position on July 1.
Maddaluna has served as Superintendent of the Somerset County Vocational and Technical Schools since 2003. His tenure has been noted for the numerous innovative changes within the school district, all successfully improving the quality of education for a diversified group of students.
In 2005, Mr. Maddaluna introduced the Academy for Health and Medical Sciences in partnership with Raritan Valley Community College, a program which allows exceptional students in grades 9 to 12 who meet specific criteria to earn a high school diploma and an Associate's Degree from Raritan Valley in General Science.
Mr. Maddaluna also spearheaded a $6 million addition to the school for additional classrooms for the arts programs and the addition of a state-of-the-art technology center, andinitiated a significant upgrade for the Culinary Arts program including new kitchen equipment, additional classroom space, and am in-house restaurant run by the students.
Mr. Maddaluna earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Seton Hall University.
