Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School Featured on NJN's "Classroom Close-up"
Classroom Close-up NJ, a six-time Emmy winning show, visited the Middlesex County Vocational Technical High Schools' Woodbridge Campus on March 15 to tape a story about an amazing program, The Comic Book Project.
The show will air May 1 at 6:30 p.m., May 6 at 7 a.m., May 29 at 6:30 p.m., and June 3 at 7 a.m. on NJN.
The "Comic Book en Español" is a project in which World Language class students created a comic book in Spanish. This is a cooperative project between Middlesex County College and Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School. The objective for the project is for students to use their Spanish skills in a real-life situation: the creation of a comic book. The comic book project is cross-curricular in design with the integration of social studies, art, language arts, and world languages. Democracy and leadership are themes for the comic book
storyline.
Upon completion of the project students entered their comic book in a nationwide contest. Two students won and had their books published. A national touring exhibit features the winners.
Classroom Close-up, NJ, produced by the New Jersey Educational Association and NJN Public Television, features innovative programs going on in local school classrooms. Each half-hour segment shows how caring school professionals inspire and motivate students. Each week, the excitement of learning comes alive as teachers, students and parents work together
for success.
