District Highlights

MCST's original three full-time academies are now in their sixth year of operation. Students in the academy class of 2005 earned an average of 24 college credits each, and were accepted at some of the finest colleges and universities in the country. In 2004, four additional academies were added at the Denville campus. These academy programs also prepare students for entrance into the highly competitive job market of the 21st century. Through on-the-job internships and federally-registered pre-apprenticeships in the senior year, qualified students gain real world experiences that provide them with the skills they will need to obtain meaningful careers. Currently, MCST offers 19 shared-time programs for high school students, with offerings in construction arts, automotive sciences, health and human services, business information technology and retail careers. Five programs are tailored specifically to meet the career goals of students with special needs. MCST also houses the Morris County Educational Technology Training Center (ETTC) which offers professional development to all school staff throughout the county. Since 1997, the ETTC has trained over 14,000 school personnel in the infusion of technology into their daily curriculum.

Looking Ahead

The district is currently undergoing a four-year, $15 million renovation program that includes a new gymnasium, cafeteria, fitness center, media center, science labs and eight classrooms. For the 2005-06 school year, MCST opened three new full-time academies: Finance, School of Cosmetology, and School of Culinary Arts.
