District Highlights

The Monmouth County Vocational School District offers a wide variety of career and technical programs and services that assist over 8,000 citizens annually to advance and improve themselves as they prepare to become productive workers and contributors in society. Our full-time nationally recognized career academies, three US DOE Blue Ribbon High Schools, one Intel/Scholastic Blue Ribbon School of Distinction, six New Jersey DOE Star School Awards, and New Jersey’s only US DOE New American High School provide students with a career focus as well as a high-standard academic program for furthering one’s education. Shared-time vocational-technical programs such as auto technology, allied health, visual communications and law enforcement provide students challenging career opportunities while still in high school. Post-secondary and adult programs such as cosmetology, licensed practical nursing and the Culinary Education Center (a collaboration between MCVSD and Brookdale Community College) provide “state-of-the-art” programs with direct job opportunity linkages. In addition, adults may take part-time evening courses from a selection of hundreds of short/long-term courses that meet their career development needs at reasonable costs.

Looking Ahead

Over 1,000 secondary students are enrolled in the district’s five career academies with the Bio-Technology High School opening in September 2005 in a temporary facility. The school will be moving to a new state-of-the-art facility located in Freehold in 2006.
