District Highlights
The Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools have been providing high school students and adults with the opportunity to receive quality vocational and academic education for more than 90 years. The passing rate on nationally-certified occupational competency tests, the job placement rate for our graduates, and the passing rate on the New Jersey High Schools Proficiency Assessment demonstrate our commitment to helping our students achieve high educational standards through career training and academic competency. The district offers career programs at five campus locations with courses at the secondary and post-secondary levels, adult high school, adult evening school, as well as apprenticeship programs. There are also many programs which serve special education students. Our technology mission ensures that all students and staff are actively engaged in meaningful activities in a technological-rich environment that enhances learning, communication and productivity. The district currently has a 2:1student/computer ratio. Students
participate in award winning sports programs, compete in occupationally related contests, and are members of the National Technical Honor Society. Seniors participate in the Cooperative Vocational Education program to gain work experience. The district’s placement report shows that the overall job placement continues to be 98 percent, with 86 percent of those students placed in the occupational area for which they were trained. The Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies is located on the campus of the Middlesex County College. Specializing in Pre-Engineering Technologies, the academy is driven by a rigorous college preparatory curriculum and offers majors in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology and Civil and Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Looking Ahead
The Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School District will continue to improve and enhance educational opportunities by the development of a comprehensive network of career theme and specialty high schools and academies.
