District Highlights
Gloucester County Institute of Technology offers Gloucester County residents a variety of educational options for high school and adult students with a career focus, including four career-technical schools and four career academies.
GCIT has developed relationships, partnerships, articulations, and affiliations with colleges, universities, local business, and labor unions in order to provide a myriad of opportunities to our students. GCIT students may earn concurrent high school and college credits. In fact, nearly 80 percent of our academy graduates earn transferable college credits while in high school. The GCIT school-to-careers program offers students an opportunity for paid part-time positions related to classroom instruction. Many GCIT graduates have gained coveted apprenticeships with local labor unions. Other points of pride include having the best High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) scores in Gloucester County and average SAT scores of 1091. The school was one of eight New Jersey Schools awarded the Tech Prep Grant and was a winner of the National Hewlett Packard Technology Grant. The school received the Governor's Award for the Arts in Dance, the NJ Star School, and the NJ Best Practice Award. GCIT is a state and national Service-Learning Leader School and the only high school in Gloucester County to be part of the NJ Scholars Program. Other awards include a national recognition winner of the American Welding Society and state and national Medal Winners for Skills USA, FCCLA, FBLA.
Looking Ahead
With the entering freshmen class In September 2005, GCIT will opens the doors to a full-time comprehensive high school, adding three career-technical programs to our existing full-time programs.
