Hospitality and Culinary Arts Programs
Atlantic County Institute of Technology

With salons and day spas thriving throughout New Jersey, it is no surprise that cosmetology programs are as popular as ever. High school and adult students complete minimum hours of course-work while attending county vocational-technical schools and are then eligible to take licensure tests through the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling. Upon graduation, they are ready to work in the glamorous world of cosmetology.

At Camden County Technical Schools, all practical and theoretical skills required by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology are taught so that students will be prepared for the state exam and licensing. Units of instruction include state laws, shop management, scalp conditioning, hair cutting, shaping and styling, permanent waving, thermal waving, barbering, shaving, facials, manicuring, pedicuring, anatomy and physiology, and chemistry.

The cosmetology program at Mercer County Technical Schools is a culturallyintegrated program that gives students instruction in all phases of hair, skin and nail care. But their craft really comes alive when they get "hands-on" practice in their trade. Like many county vocational technical schools across the state, Mercer County Technical School operates an open-to-the-public salon to give students real-world experience.
