Salem County's Academy of Communications and Information Technology students develop strong written and oral communication skills as they read, evaluate, and create a variety of newspaper and magazine articles, scripts for radio, TV, and film, speeches, and skits. These activities allow students to develop a portfolio of published works as they progress through this competitive academy program.

At Communications High School in Monmouth County, students produce work ranging from literary magazines to photojournalism to graphic arts. Each week, student work is featured in the Asbury Park Press.

Responding to a critical need for field technicians in the utilities industry, Comcast Cable and the Essex County Vocational Technical Schools developed a collaborative training partnership that prepares students for careers in the cable installation field. Training focuses on CATV video installation and repair techniques.
