Business Partners of the Year: Camden County

2010—Camden County Board of Social Services

For more than ten years, thanks in large part to the work of Ronalda Dublin, the Camden County Board of Social Services has provided outstanding opportunities for banking and finance and legal assistanVadministrative assistant students by mentoring and hiring them through the cooperative education program. Mrs. Dublin leads the group every year, providing the students with the guidance, direction and training to help them learn what is expected of them when they are working in a very busy office setting. Each student leaves with a better outlook on how the business world works and the various roles played by workers in the process, Mrs. Dublin is also a driving force on the district's advisory council board and is actively involved in the Academic Business Connections Luncheon Lecfure Series.

2009—Rio Supply

Jonathan Boston from Rio Supply hires Camden County Technical Schools students as co-operative education students and has also promoted two of those students into full-time employees. Mr. Coston serves on the advisory board and is always available for assistance. His company is "green" and works throughout the state supplying digital, regular, and energy-saving meters to communities.

2008—TD Bank

Bruce McKelvy of TD Bank, N.A., formerly Commerce Bank, has been volunteering and assisting at Camden County Technical Schools for several years. He has served as a keynote speaker at an Academic Business Connections Luncheon, speaking on "Ethics in the Workplace" to many educators and business representatives. In addition, Mr. McKelvy currently serves as an advisory board member on the business advisory council. He has also helped the school district obtain sponsorship of various events, including the golf tournament and ABC Luncheon Lectures.

2007—Lockheed Martin

Through the dedication of Jonathan Montague and Timothy Morgan, Lockheed Martin MS 2 developed a custom information technology apprenticeship program for students in the computer networking and electronic communications career program. Prior to and during the apprenticeships, all students participate in seminars and hands-on workshops to decide if they are interested in pursuing this opportunity. Throughout the process, parents are involved as well as high school administrators and teachers. Students who commit themselves to the apprenticeship program are hired as full-time Lockheed Martin MS 2 employees upon graduation. After its initial run last year, seven graduates were hired. Eight students are now currently participating in the program. Both Mr. Montague and Mr. Morgan also serve on various career program advisory boards. Their expertise and contributions help Camden County Technical Schools shape their career programs to reflect the current trends and skills needed by high school and post-secondary school graduates.

2006—The Trump Casino and Hotel Resort

The Trump Casino and Hotel Resort partnership program with Camden County Technical Schools consists of various activities. Trump Tour Days, Speakers in the Classroom, Job Shadowing, Cooperative Education, Advisory Council and the Job Fair address many of our students' needs each year. Trump Tour Days give educators and students an opportunity to visit the Trump properties and talk with staffing personnel regarding career opportunities. A natural outgrowth of this program is individuals serving in an advisory capacity to the various career and trade programs offered at CCTS. To be considered for the job-shadowing program, students submit an application and interview with the staffing director. Of the 10 students selected from the school to interview, five are chosen to participate. Trump also participates in CCTS' annual job fair which is attended by high school seniors, and hires many of our students each year.
