Mission and Overview
Atlantic County Institute of Technology is the most comprehensive technical education facility in Atlantic County. The school is situated on a 58-acre campus in the Hamilton Township Business Park in Mays Landing, centrally located in the heart of the county. The school was constructed in 1974 and saw a major multi-million dollar renovation program in 1994 that enabled the school to upgrade existing programs as well as add a number of new programs to meet the needs of today's workplace. The programs at ACIT prepare our students to enter the world of work directly upon graduation or to continue their education at the college level.
Schools

- Academy of Information Technology
- William J. Flynn Academy of Health Sciences and Medicine
District Highlights
In 2000, the school embarked on a mission to create an exciting new concept in vocational education: the formation of career academies. The school had existed as a shared-time vocational-technical school for 26 years. After much thought was given to the employment opportunities in the region, we opened the Academy of Culinary and Hospitality Management. The following September, the doors to the Academy of Information Technology opened, and in 2004, the William J. Flynn Academy of Health Sciences and Medicine opened. Students who enroll in these academies receive training from skilled industry professionals and have the opportunity to “earn as they learn” in the school’s Cooperative Industrial Education/School-to-Careers program. At program completion, graduates have the inside track for high-level positions in industry. They also have the option of attending college upon graduation. Agreements are in place to allow students to earn college credits for courses that are completed while attending the academies. Atlantic Cape Community College has joined the Atlantic County Institute of Technology to provide students with a continuum of
educational and career services in Atlantic County. Additionally, academy graduates complete the prerequisites to qualify for entrance into other colleges and universities.
Looking Ahead
ACIT has earned a New Jersey State Best Practices award for its academy mathematics program. Students in the academy programs have earned high statewide honors and have enrolled in numerous prestigious colleges and universities. Other graduates have directly entered the world of work as the school continues to provide the region’s employers with skilled employees needed to make their businesses successful.
